Personal
Somatic Coaching

and Bodywork

If your calling is to shift conditions toward a future where both people and planet thrive, but you’re stuck in cycles of worry and busyness - this path is for you.

Prevent burnout, grow self-trust, & reclaim safety through the body.

Let’s partner together.

In this time of increasing uncertainty, chaos, and unrest — it’s clear we need to take bigger risks, dream beyond current realities, and attempt new strategies.

But how do we actually do that?

We all have default ways of coping and taking care of safety, especially under pressure. Maybe your tendency is to hold back, agree, take care, over-perform, shrink, or doubt yourself. These habits might have served you in the past, but now they’re holding you back from deeper connections, bold moves, and unapologetically going after what you want.

Even though you know something needs to shift and could probably talk to me for hours about it, simply thinking hasn’t brought real change. Am I close?

That’s where new practices, both exciting and outside your comfort zone, comes in.

By working with your body, we can reveal unconscious patterns shaped by institutions, society, and survival - and start creating new ways of being that align with who you really are.

Instead of shaming yourself for struggling, you can identify the deeper need of an old pattern and find a compassionate way to meet it.

So imagine relaxing your shoulders, locating your center, and communicating from a place of dignity and belonging within yourself. What becomes possible? This isn’t about turning inward and retreating from the world — it’s about becoming even more present to it.

We practice to feel more, not less.

What is somatic coaching?

The word somatics comes from the Greek root soma, which means "the living organism in its wholeness". Somatics as a framework is a response to the perceived mind-body split found in western beliefs.

Somatics is not only about recognizing our wholeness, but serves as a change theory that acknowledges how we are shaped by social and historical forces rooted in domination and extraction.

To survive these forces, we often take on strategies, like pleasing others and holding back, that keeps us away from living full and relational lives. However, getting rid of these adaptive strategies is not the goal. You will learn to recognize ways your body has cared for you while practicing something less reactive and defaulted.

The good news is, following our longings will lead to the desired shifts we seek.

Through somatic coaching, you’ll learn powerful practices of awareness, speech, breath, touch, and movement that allow your current “shape” to soften. This helps move stored tension, making way for new actions, possibilities, and choices.

Over time, the practices that you’ve committed to will become embodied, or, just part of who you are. This is the path to sustainable transformation.

As your practitioner, I’m committed to showing up curious, present, and honest. I acknowledge that I’m also impacted by systems and current events and will honor my own humanity, learning edges, and growth.

I believe in our capacity to heal and evolve, especially when we find ourselves in supportive environments, where all parts of us are safe to engage with. My style is to create a warm, playful, welcoming space for your aliveness and meaning-making to flourish.

“I went into somatic coaching with an openness to shift and grow. I had done some body-based work before and found it helpful, but didn't quite know what to expect. My hope was to work with my ability to hold stronger boundaries and stay rooted in my sense of self. I realized through our work together, the ways I was unconsciously shrinking and minimizing my experiences to make others more comfortable. This process helped me stand in my width, allowing for more confidence and sense of belonging in the world. I was amazed by how much my body could show me. As someone who does a lot of self-reflection, it was fascinating to witness how much further my body could take me beyond what my mind could perceive. This modality is ideal for those who tend to be overly-analytical, as it allows the thinking mind to rest and deeper healing to occur. Selin is a grounded, clear, and compassionate facilitator who creates a non-judgemental space for transformation. I highly recommend this work!”

How it works.

We’ll start where you are

After our free 20-minute “Good fit” call and deciding it’s an enthusiastic yes(!), we will setup a regular time to meet every other week that will take place virtually on Zoom.

01

We’ll make a plan of action

In the beginning, we will spend time uncovering and defining the goals of our work together, so that we can get really clear on the change you want to make. Maybe you feel frozen and powerless when it comes to taking action or you’re ready to think bigger and braver about your impact or you want to feel safer in your body. Whatever you want to embody, unfurl, or explore, we will co-create a compassionate container, and move at your pace.

02

We’ll take it one step at a time

Each time we meet, we will find a focus for that session based on an obstacle you wish to explore or an action you want to take. You are the ultimate guide here! My focus is on showing you how to partner and collaborate with your wise body while honoring your lived experience and knowledge of yourself.

Before we began, I kept facing the same obstacles around ‘showing up,’ especially when using my voice. I knew what I wanted to say, but fear held me back. As a climate organizer, this was frustrating — I needed a compassionate, healthy way to overcome these blocks, work more effectively, and find greater balance in my life. Though I had explored embodiment work before, I had never fully dived in. This experience was incredibly positive. It helped me trust my body in a way I hadn’t before, offering a deep sense of comfort and access to a powerful intelligence beyond my mind. Ultimately, it gave me a confidence that can’t be found externally. Selin is the most gentle, down to earth teacher, and the sense of ease I felt working with her made this process so uniquely effective for me. I highly recommend this work! I didn’t fully know what to expect, but she made it feel natural and possible. After this experience, I can’t imagine working with a coach — or even a therapist—without a somatic element.”

Hi! I’m Selin. Educator, writer, and practitioner of somatics.

And I believe to change the world, we must change the way we lead, relate, and connect.

Drawing on my experience as an environmental educator, scholar-activist, and somatic coach I help people build body-awareness and relational skills. Together, we turn challenges into opportunities for growth and meaningful change. You won’t find “hacks”, toxic positivity, or bypassing here. So what am I committed to you ask?

Supporting leaders to flourish as they do important work and creating opportunities for healing in the era of planetary crises that’s hard on systems, soft on people.

I hold a M.S. in Behavior Change with a focus on Environmental Psychology from the University of Michigan and I’ve completed training in trauma-sensitive mindfulness, bodywork, coaching, and other therapeutic methods. Regardless of what you do, if you do it for a just and healthy future, I’d love to support you.

FAQS

You’ve got questions. I’ve got answers.

  • Coaching is not a replacement for psychotherapy, however in many cases, people work with both therapists and coaches in tandem. Although there is some overlap, if your main focus is to process the past, I recommend working with a trusted clinician.

Whereas therapy focuses on healing the past, coaching focuses on your present and future: what do you embody now, where do you want to go, and what actions will help you get there? Coaching depends on you and your desires while pulling from your own wisdom to create transformation. As coach, I will support you in your journey, but you will be the ultimate guide.

  • Individual sessions are 60 minutes on Zoom. Our first few sessions will be spent exploring and defining the goals of our work together. In following sessions, our work is collaborative and emergent. You'll arrive to each session with a piece of that goal, or "north star", that feels most alive or timely.

Throughout the session, we will be engaged in a mix of bodywork, observation, and reflection. If in person, bodywork takes place on a table or blanket, fully clothed. Virtual clients will be surprised by how much can be achieved with self-touch and guided movement!

Clients who get the most out of sessions also commit to daily practice outside of our time together. If a goal or practice needs to change, we will welcome it and move towards what feels most alive.

There are no quick fixes in this work, however I will guide you to set goals well within your reach. Throughout our time I will regularly check-in about your learnings and how you feel about our direction.

  • I offer coaching on a sliding scale of $400-$800 per month. This package includes two 60-minute sessions per month for 5 months. Below are the tiers to help you decide what investment to make. By paying the most authentic fee, you are helping ensure my support is accessible and sustainable.

Tier 1: $400/ month - your earned income is up to $45,000 per year

    Tier 2: $600/ month - your earned income is ~ $45,000 - $75,000 per year

    Tier 3: $800/ month - your earned income is ~ $75,000 - $100,000+ per year

This sliding scale is based on an honor system, capacity, and income. Go with what's true for you!

  • We will meet virtually on Zoom, which has live captioning, unless otherwise agreed upon. Please honor what will feel supportive to you in sessions, whether it's stimming, lying down, eating or anything else you may need.

  • This path is for you if you are open, willing, and excited about moving beyond 'mindset' or 'thinking' and into 'being'. Somatics dives deep into the realm of human experience and social/ political realities. It allows us to feel and process whatever is holding us back and what we're longing for, so that we can translate that into action.

  • My clients are engaged in personal transformation, community organizing, healing inside relationships, climate justice, and growing as leaders - ultimately aware of how these all intersect. I especially enjoy working with QTBIPOC, neurodivergent, diasporic communities, activists, and healers.

I work with clients virtually worldwide. If you're in the Asheville area and interested in in-person sessions, please let me know during our "Good fit" call.

  • Absolutely. All bodies are unique, powerful, and needed. Together, we will challenge ableism and approach the body as a guide to explore what feels good, possible, and inviting. All practices are tailored to what is most accessible and comfortable to you.

Please reach out if you have any access or support needs or questions, and I will do my best to accommodate if possible.

Want me to speak at your school, event or facilitate a workshop? I also love collaborating on land-based projects with fellow creatives and values-aligned practitioners.
